Amy Barrett started out as a journalist, contributing regularly to The New York Times Magazine and other national publications. 

Her filmmaking career began with a series of short films that appeared at festivals worldwide. Her episodic short CARRY ME won the Jean Picker Firstenberg Award at the 2016 AFI Conservatory Directing Workshop for Women. She next directed several episodes of the Web series UNREAL: THE AUDITIONS, which went on to garner an Emmy nomination. 

Her feature film directing debut, STAGING CHRISTMAS, premiered on Lifetime in 2019.  In the beginning of 2020, she’s headed to Serbia to shoot another Christmas film with MarVista Entertainment.

She lives in Los Angeles.
